Special Cancellations of Karnataka 2023
40* Special cancellations were released during the year 2023.
Special postal cancellations leave distinct marks on mail, highlighting important days, occasions, events, or themes. They hold cultural value, making them desirable for collectors. With unique designs, these cancellations enhance mail, capturing the essence of the event or theme that they signify.
During the year, Karnataka Post kept collectors engaged with a couple of cancellations each month. These unique cancellations were available at the State's four Philatelic bureaus: Bengaluru, Mangaluru, Belagavi, and Mysuru with few exceptions. During each release, collectors crowded the bureaus, presenting diverse postal materials, personally crafted covers and simple postcards to acquire these cancellations, sending them to fellow collectors worldwide.
I extend my gratitude to Sri.Sushil Mehra Ji , Smt.Reshma P.V and Sri.Praveen Shastry for posting me many cancellations on postcard. On some release days when I couldn't visit the Philatelic Bureau, I was confident that one of them would send me a postcard. Additionally, I appreciate the helpful team at Bengaluru PB, led by Sri. Bharanidharan, who facilitated acquiring these cancellations smoothly.
