Beautiful Bookmarks

Recently India Post  Karnataka Circle brought out five sets of beautifully made bookmarks, each set containing 12 bookmarks, totaling to 60 bookmarks.The Themes are chosen thoughtfully and designed beautifully. The sets comprises of the themes -  Birds of India, Miniature paintings, Flowers and Wildlife.

 A perfect gift for Bookworms and definitely for Philatelists.

 

 

 

80 years of Kannada Cinema

 On event of 80 years of Kannada Cinema , a philately and photo exhibition was organised at Rangoli Art Centre on M.G.Road  Bangalore, between March 1st to March 3rd and a special cover was released on the last day of the exhibition. The exhibition was organized by Karnataka Chalanachitra Academy.

The Theme of the Special cover is the first Kannada talkie cinema , Sathi Sulochana which was released on March 3, 1934 at Paramount theatre, KR Market. The film starred MV Subbaiah Naidu, Thripurambha and R Nagendra Rao, among others.

The cancellation depicts the portrait of the actor MV Subbaiah Naidu.

24th January - National girl child day

  
National girl child day is celebrated every year on 24th of January as a national observance day for the girl child. This celebration was started to offer more supports and new opportunities to the girls in the country. It is celebrated to increase the awareness among people about all the inequalities faced by the girl child in the society.  To commemorate National Girl Child Day, which is scheduled on January 24, India Post is launching a special drive for opening of new Saving Bank (SB) accounts in the name of each girl child. The drive starts from January 24 and will concluded on 28.

Celebrating 50 Years of Bangalore City Police

Bangalore Police Commissionerate,which was established in the year 1963, has completed fifty glorious years of service. A special cover was released in Bangalore to commemorate the occasion.

80th Anniversary of Gandhiji's Visit to Payyanur

Celebrating the 80th  Anniversary of Gandhiji's visit to Payyanur, The Cannanore Philatelic Club has brought out a Special cover on Gandhi theme with Gandhi cancellation on 'MyStamp' specially done for the occasion . The special cover was released during  'GANDHI SMRUTHI 2014' A Philatelic and Numismatic Exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi which was held between 11-13th Jan 2014 at Payyanur, Kerala.
