ವಿಶೇಷ ಲಕೋಟೆ - ಕೆ ಟಿ ಕೆ -೬೦-೨೦೧೯ - ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ದಿನ - Special Cover - KTK/60/2019 - National Science Day

February 28 is celebrated as 'National Science Day' all over India, to commemorate the announcement of the discovery of 'Raman Effect' by Sir C.v. Raman. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. This special cover is released to mark this momentous occasion. 

ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ ೨೮ನೇ ದಿನವನ್ನು " ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ದಿನ " ಎಂದಾಗಿ  ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಜಗದ್ವಿಖ್ಯಾತ ಭೌತ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿ ಸಿ.ವಿ. ರಾಮನ್ ಅವರು 1928ರಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೇ ದಿನದಂದು ಬೆಳಕಿನ ಚದುರುವಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮಗ್ರಿಗಳ ಗುಣಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳ ಪರಿಣಾಮದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಹೊಳಹೊಂದನ್ನು 'ರಾಮನ್ ಎಫೆಕ್ಟ್' ನ್ನು ಸಂಶೋಧಿಸಿದರು . ಅವರಿಗೆ 1930 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ನೊಬೆಲ್ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಸಂದರ್ಭವನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಲು ಈ ವಿಶೇಷ ಲಕೋಟೆ  ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.

Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy (1 July 1882 - 1 July 1962) was an eminent Indian physician, educationist, freedom fighter and politician who served as the Chief Minister of West Bengal from 1948 until his death in 1962.

In India, the National Doctor's Day is celebrated in his memory every year on 1st July. He was awarded with India's highest civilian honour "Bharat Ratna" on 4th February 1961.

ವಿಶೇಷ ಲಕೋಟೆ - ಕೆಟಿಕೆ -೪೨-೨೦೧೯ - ಡಾ. ಗುಬ್ಬಿ ವೀರಣ್ಣ - ೧೨೮ನೇ  ಜನ್ಮದಿನದ ವರ್ಷಾಚರಣೆ.

ಡಾ. ಗುಬ್ಬಿ ವೀರಣ್ಣನವರು (೧೮೯೧-೧೯೭೨) ವೃತ್ತಿ ರಂಗಭೂಮಿಗೆ ಅಪಾರವಾದ ಕೊಡುಗೆಯನ್ನು ನೀಡಿದ್ದಾರೆ. ಅವರು 'ಗುಬ್ಬಿ ಕಂಪನಿ' ಎಂಬ ಸುಪ್ರಸಿದ್ದ ನಾಟಕ ಕಂಪನಿಯ ಸ್ಥಾಪಕರು. ಕನ್ನಡ ರಂಗಭೂಮಿಯ ಏಳಿಗೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಗುಬ್ಬಿ ಕಂಪನಿಯು ಮಹತ್ವದ ಪಾತ್ರವನ್ನು ವಹಿಸಿದೆ. "ಪದ್ಮಶ್ರೀ" ಪುರಸ್ಕೃತರಾದ ಇವರು 'ನಾಟಕ ರತ್ನ' ಎಂಬ ಬಿರುದಿನಿಂದ ಪ್ರಖ್ಯಾತರು. 'ಗುಬ್ಬಿ ಕಂಪನಿಯ ಕತೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ರಂಗಭೂಮಿಯ ಕಥೆಯಾಗಿದೆ' ಎಂಬ ಮಾತು ಜನಜನಿತವಾಗಿದೆ.

Special Cover - KTK-42-2019 - 128th Birth Anniversary Celebration of Dr. Gubbi Veeranna

Dr. Gubbi Veeranna (1891-1972) was pioneer and most prolific contributor to Kannada theatre. He established a drama company, which was known as Gubbi Company. The company played a crucial role in promoting the Kannada theatre. He was a "Padmashree" awardee and conferred with the title "Nataka Ratna". There is a popular saying that the story of Gubbi Company is the story of Kannada theatre.

TAAF - Greenland Joint issue - Birds from the regions - Arctic and Antarctic

These are a set of beautiful joint issue miniature sheets and my one of favourites. The design is done so meaningfully linking the two polar regions.

The miniature sheets (MS) consists of 3 stamps : The emperor penguins representing South polar region though not exactly TAAF ( French Southern and Antarctic Lands), White-tailed Eagle representing the North Polar region - Greenland .The center stamp has a South polar Skua and a Arctic Tern.

The Greenland  miniature sheets has the Emperor Penguins Stamp without denomination or country name (label??) and the TAAF miniature sheets has the White-tailed eagle Stamp without denomination or country name.

TAAF-Greenland Joint Issue

The emperor penguin (Aptenodytes forsteri) is the tallest and heaviest of all living penguin species and is endemic to Antarctica. Emperor penguins spend their entire lives on Antarctic ice and in its waters.It is the only animal to inhabit the open ice of Antarctica during the winter.

South Polar Skua (Stercorarius maccormicki)  is a large bird that grows to 53 cm in length.The south polar skua breeds in Antarctica. 

Arctic Tern (Sterna paradisaea) makes the longest migration in the world, annual round trip meet distance of 71000 kilometers. During migration they travel from Arctic circle to Antarctic region and flies back every year. In that way Arctic tern sees more day light than any other creatures on Earth, also sees two summers per year. 

White-tailed Eagle (Haliaeetus albicilla) The largest bird in Greenland, on an average has the largest wingspan of any Eagle. White-tailed Eagle is distributed from Greenland in the West, in Iceland, and from northern Europe across Asia to the Bering Strait in the East.
