The Lion-tailed Macaque (German name Bartaffe - "beard ape") ranks among the rarest and is classified as endangered as per IUCN Red List 2007 and Wild Life Protection Act 1972 of India. It is distinguished by its silver white mane surrounding its head and is seen in the Western Ghat mountains. It has a black tuft at the end that is similar to a lion's tail.

The Indian spotted Chevrotain (Moschiola Meminna) is often referred to as the "Mouse Deer". It is small, lacking antlers, has well developed canine teeth and is mostly found in the deciduous forests of Western Ghats of India. The mottled markings provide excellent camouflage. The mouse deer communicates through scent marks & vocalizations. The species is placed in Schedule I of the Wild Life Protection Act (1972).

Wild Buffalo : State Animal of Chhattisgarh

The Asiatic Wild Buffalo (Bubalus arnee) is a globally endangered species and is accorded the highest level of protection under Schedule I of the Wildlife (Protection) Act, 1972 of India. The current wild buffalo population in Chhattisgarh is restricted to Indravati National Park and Udanti Wildlife Sanctuary with fewer than 50 individuals recorded. Wildlife Trust of India (WTI) has been working for the last 14 years with the Chhattisgarh Forest Department to recover the population of the state animal of Chhattisgarh and this special cover is released on the occasion of the 67th Wildlife Week hopes to sensitize the local populance and  instill pride in their state animal. February 28 is celebrated as 'National Science Day' all over India, to commemorate the announcement of the discovery of 'Raman Effect' by Sir C.v. Raman. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1930. This special cover is released to mark this momentous occasion. 

ಪ್ರತಿ ವರ್ಷ ಫೆಬ್ರವರಿ ೨೮ನೇ ದಿನವನ್ನು " ರಾಷ್ಟ್ರೀಯ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನ ದಿನ " ಎಂದಾಗಿ  ಆಚರಿಸಲಾಗುತ್ತದೆ. ಜಗದ್ವಿಖ್ಯಾತ ಭೌತ ವಿಜ್ಞಾನಿ ಸಿ.ವಿ. ರಾಮನ್ ಅವರು 1928ರಲ್ಲಿ ಇದೇ ದಿನದಂದು ಬೆಳಕಿನ ಚದುರುವಿಕೆಯಲ್ಲಿ ಸಾಮಗ್ರಿಗಳ ಗುಣಲಕ್ಷಣಗಳ ಪರಿಣಾಮದ ಬಗ್ಗೆ ಹೊಸ ಹೊಳಹೊಂದನ್ನು 'ರಾಮನ್ ಎಫೆಕ್ಟ್' ನ್ನು ಸಂಶೋಧಿಸಿದರು . ಅವರಿಗೆ 1930 ರಲ್ಲಿ ಭೌತಶಾಸ್ತ್ರದ ನೊಬೆಲ್ ಪ್ರಶಸ್ತಿ ನೀಡಲಾಯಿತು. ಈ ಮಹತ್ವದ ಸಂದರ್ಭವನ್ನು ಗುರುತಿಸಲು ಈ ವಿಶೇಷ ಲಕೋಟೆ  ಬಿಡುಗಡೆ ಮಾಡಲಾಗಿದೆ.

Dr. Bidhan Chandra Roy (1 July 1882 - 1 July 1962) was an eminent Indian physician, educationist, freedom fighter and politician who served as the Chief Minister of West Bengal from 1948 until his death in 1962.

In India, the National Doctor's Day is celebrated in his memory every year on 1st July. He was awarded with India's highest civilian honour "Bharat Ratna" on 4th February 1961.

"ಪದ್ಮಶ್ರೀ" ಪುರಸ್ಕೃತರಾದ ಇವರು 'ನಾಟಕ ರತ್ನ' ಎಂಬ ಬಿರುದಿನಿಂದ ಪ್ರಖ್ಯಾತರು. 'ಗುಬ್ಬಿ ಕಂಪನಿಯ ಕತೆ ಕನ್ನಡ ರಂಗಭೂಮಿಯ ಕಥೆಯಾಗಿದೆ' ಎಂಬ ಮಾತು ಜನಜನಿತವಾಗಿದೆ.

Dr. Gubbi Veeranna (1891-1972) was pioneer and most prolific contributor to Kannada theatre. He established a drama company, which was known as Gubbi Company. The company played a crucial role in promoting the Kannada theatre. He was a "Padmashree" awardee and conferred with the title "Nataka Ratna". There is a popular saying that the story of Gubbi Company is the story of Kannada theatre.
